Danielle Shaw Jones is a BioSTEM teachers in Jackson, TN. In this lessons she compells her students to think critially about the risk of thermal runaway in lithium-ion batteries, and how it might occur. Students apply engineering principles of thermal management, heat transfer, and fire safety to design battery enclosure solutions. This learning extended into their community when students communicated their findings in a local public safety poster competition to educate the community on lithium-ion battery safety.
