Context

Leo DeGreef is an informal educator at Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum. Through his learning experience he engages with applications of lithium-ion batteries, and risks of thermal runaway in manned and unmanned flight. From phones, and drones to spaceshuttles, and lunar bases he explores with students the importance of lithium-ion battery safety and shares how ULRI is making contributions to the field. He hopes to continue engaging students in conversations about how to safely use these batteries and prepare for lithium-ion battery challenges in aerospace.
